The Advanced Damage System is a complete overhaul of the vehicle maintenance system, transforming it into a deep and strategic gameplay experience.

Version 0.8.4.5
Game settings have been added to configure the thermal model.
The default values have been adjusted to reduce heat buildup and dirt impact.
The wear penalty when the engine is cold has been reduced.
A warning message is now displayed when the engine is running at high rpm.
Overhaul is now only available for vehicles with a health below 50%.
IMPORTANT: All mod settings will be reset to their default values with this update.

Forget the simple “Repair” button—now every tractor requires a thoughtful approach.

A big thank you to Frvetz (https://github.com/Frvetz), the developer of the “Realistic Damage System” mod for FS22, for allowing us to
use ideas from his mod and for supporting us during the early development phase.
A big thank you also to Derwen Modding for testing the early builds.

Main Features
Two new parameters: Condition (total mechanical wear) and Maintenance (consumables). Poor maintenance accelerates wear, and poor condition leads to failures.
Dynamic Breakdowns: Dozens of malfunctions affecting the engine, transmission, brakes, and hydraulics. Breakdowns progress in several stages and worsen over time if left unchecked.
Realistic Temperature Simulation: Overheating of the engine or transmission reduces performance or leads to critical failures in older equipment.
Brand Uniqueness: Vehicles differ in reliability (affects wear rate, breakdown probability, and service intervals) and serviceability (affects service costs and time).
New Workshop System:
Part Selection: Choose between reliable original parts or cheaper aftermarket parts that carry a certain risk of failure.
Inspection: Detects hidden faults.
Maintenance: Restores service status.
Repair: Fixes specific, identified breakdowns.
Overhaul: Partially restores the vehicle’s overall condition.
… For more information, see further down in the guide.

Console Commands
For testing and debugging purposes, the mod includes several console commands. To use these, you must be in a vehicle that supports the mod. Command Description Use Example
ads_debug Enables global debug mode for the mod, which outputs detailed logs to the console and displays the debug panel. ads_debug
ads_listBreakdowns Lists all available breakdown IDs that can be added. ads_listBreakdowns
ads_addBreakdown Adds a specific breakdown to the current vehicle. If no ID is specified, a random breakdown is added. ads_addBreakdown ECU_MALFUNCTION 2
ads_removeBreakdown Removes a specific breakdown. If no ID is specified, all active breakdowns for the current vehicle are removed. ads_removeBreakdown ECU_MALFUNCTION
ads_advanceBreakdown Advances a specific breakdown to the next level. If no ID is specified, all active breakdowns are advanced. ads_advanceBreakdown ECU_MALFUNCTION
ads_setCondition Sets the condition of the current vehicle. ads_setCondition 0.5
ads_setService Sets the service level of the current vehicle. ads_setService 0.2
ads_resetVehicle Completely resets the vehicle condition: sets condition and service to 1.0 and removes all breakdowns. ads_resetVehicle
ads_startMaintance Starts a maintenance process for the current vehicle. Types: Inspection, Maintenance, Repair, Overhaul. ads_startMaintance Repair
ads_finishMaintance Forces the completion of ongoing maintenance tasks for the current vehicle. ads_finishMaintance

The Advanced Damage System in FS25 seems to bring a lot of depth and complexity to the vehicle maintenance mechanic. Here's a breakdown of the key features and changes introduced in version 0.8.4.5:

1. **Game Settings**: New settings have been added to configure the thermal model, with default values adjusted to reduce heat buildup and dirt impact. Wear penalty when the engine is cold has been reduced, and a warning message now displays when the engine is running at high RPM. Overhaul is now restricted to vehicles with health below 50%. Note that all mod settings will be reset with this update.

2. **Deep Maintenance System**: The system introduces Condition (total mechanical wear) and Maintenance (consumables) parameters. Poor maintenance accelerates wear, leading to failures. Dynamic Breakdowns affect different vehicle components, progress in stages, and worsen over time if ignored.

3. **Realistic Temperature Simulation**: Overheating of the engine or transmission can reduce performance or cause critical failures in older equipment.

4. **Brand Uniqueness**: Vehicles vary in reliability and serviceability, affecting wear rate, breakdown probability, and service intervals/costs. Each brand has unique characteristics.

5. **New Workshop System**: Offers a range of maintenance activities like part selection (choosing between original and aftermarket parts), inspection for hidden faults, maintenance to restore service status, repair for specific breakdowns, and overhaul to partially restore overall condition.

6. **Console Commands**: Several console commands are available for testing and debugging purposes, allowing players to manipulate breakdowns, conditions, services, and other aspects of vehicle maintenance. Examples include enabling debug mode, listing breakdown IDs, adding/removing breakdowns, advancing breakdown stages, setting condition/service levels, resetting the vehicle, and managing maintenance processes.

This new system promises a more engaging and strategic gameplay experience, requiring players to take a meticulous approach to vehicle maintenance rather than relying on a simple repair button. The collaboration with Frvetz and Derwen Modding has certainly enriched the development process, bringing real-world nuances to the maintenance mechanics in FS25.
