Yes, the 2K12 Kub (NATO reporting name: SA-6 Gainful) is indeed a significant part of Soviet-era air defense technology. The system consists of a self-propelled launcher vehicle, a radar vehicle, and a command vehicle. The launcher carries up to six ready-to-fire missiles, while the radar vehicle provides target detection, tracking, and guidance for the missiles.

One of the notable features of the 2K12 Kub is its use of a semi-active radar homing guidance system, where the radar on the launcher illuminates the target while the missile homes in on the reflected signal. This integrated radar and guidance architecture allows for effective engagement of aerial targets within a range of several tens of kilometers.

The 2K12 Kub saw widespread use by various countries during the Cold War and beyond, and it has been upgraded and modernized multiple times to keep pace with evolving threats. It remains in service with several armed forces around the world today, showcasing the enduring effectiveness and versatility of its design.
