The BTR-40’s development began in early 1947 at the design bureau of the Gorky Automobile Factory under the leadership of V. A. Dedkov. The concept was a successor to the BA-64B armoured car which went out of production in 1946. The design team also included L. W. Kostikin and P.I. Muziukin. Two prototypes designated BTR-141 were completed in 1947. The first was armed with two coaxial 14.5 mm KPVT heavy machine guns on a rotatable mount which was protected by armour plate at the front and sides. The second had no fixed armament. The BTR-152 is a six-wheeled Soviet armoured personnel carrier (APC) built on the chassis and drive train of a ZIS-151 utility truck. It entered service with a number of Warsaw Pact member states beginning in 1950, and formed the mainstay of Soviet motor rifle battalions until the advent of the amphibious BTR-60 series during the 1960s.[9] BTR stands for bronetransportyor (Russian: бронетранспортёр, БТР, lit. ’armoured transporter’).[10] BTR-152s were available in several marks, and were manufactured in large numbers for the Soviet military and export. MZKT-7930 Astrolog (Russian: МЗКТ-7930 Астролог) is a Russian army 8×8 transporter-erector-launcher designed and developed by the MZKT in Belarus. It was first developed in the early 1990s, with the first prototype being made in 1994 (although it would not see service until 2000 when it was adopted by Russia).[1]

The PLZ-05 or Type 05 is a 155 mm self-propelled howitzer developed by the Chinese People’s Liberation Army to replace the Type 59-1 130 mm towed gun and Type 83 152 mm self-propelled gun. The PLZ-05 was officially unveiled at the Military Museum of the Chinese People’s Revolution to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the PLA in July 2007, and entered service with the PLA in 2008.
