FS25 9K317M BUK M3 V1.0

The Buk-M3 is a Russian SAM system, developed to replace the previous 2K12 Kub SAM family. After experience with the Kub in combat, it was decided that each TEL would have its own fire control radar instead of relying on a single central radar for the entire system. The Buk was interoperable with the Kub, which facilitated its integration. The Buk-M1 was adopted in 1983 as a modernized version of the initial Buk-1, with improved ECM resistance, modernized radar, and increased kill probability. In 1998, the Buk-M2 entered service, equipped with the new 9M317 missile, which increased its range and improved its kinematic performance.

The Buk-M3, also known as the 9K317M, is the latest iteration of the Buk family of surface-to-air missile systems developed by Russia. It represents a significant advancement over its predecessors, the Buk-M1 and Buk-M2, incorporating modern technologies to enhance its combat capabilities and effectiveness.

One notable improvement in the Buk-M3 system is the introduction of advanced radar systems. Each Transporter Erector Launcher (TEL) is now equipped with its own fire control radar, allowing for more independent and decentralized operation compared to the previous centralized radar setup. This enhances the system's ability to engage multiple targets simultaneously and increases its overall survivability on the battlefield.

The adoption of the new 9M317 missile in the Buk-M2 version significantly improved the system's performance. This missile is known for its extended range and enhanced kinematic characteristics, which contribute to higher precision and lethality against a wide range of airborne threats, including aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles.

Overall, the Buk-M3 system represents a comprehensive upgrade of the Buk family, building upon the legacy of the Kub system and incorporating cutting-edge technologies to ensure its relevance in modern air defense scenarios.
